The Sunflower Farm is Ontario’s first and only sunflower-shaped sunflower farm and a growing
family agri-tourism business. Every summer, The Sunflower Farm welcomes visitors to share in the
beauty of our farm. Our goal at The Sunflower Farm is to become Ontario’s most beloved sunflower
farm that inspires through unique and educational agricultural experiences. We encourage visitors
to support local businesses that supply socio-conscious and environmental products with the desire
to connect back to nature. The Sunflower Farm Team is a group of inspired, innovative and engaged
individuals who share our goal and know how to enjoy every working hour on the farm while taking
pride in their work.

Who You Are
You are the face of The Sunflower Farm – the first person visitors will meet face to face. You are an
expert in creating world-class guest experiences throughout every aspect of our farm. You deliver
this experience by connecting with our customers, sharing our story, educating and speaking
authentically about the ups and downs of farming sunflowers in Ontario. You are not scared to get
your hands dirty and are passionate about the outdoors, agriculture, customer relations and public
speaking. You have an innate desire to learn, connect and grow.

A Day in the Life on The Farm Team
The Farm Team consists of multiple roles. Depending on The Farm Team role, your day may include
the front gate or field prep/manual labour or working in either the floral or merchandise hut. Your
role will be based on your experience and will rotate throughout the week, perhaps even
throughout the day. In any Farm Team role, you will remain flexible to take on the many duties of a
growing farm business. No two days are the same!
The Farm Team Entrance Gate:
– Greet visitors, explain farm rules and regulations
– Process payment (requires mental math)
– Sunflower trail and washroom cleaning
The Farm Team Huts:
– Operate POS systems and professionally handle cash and credit card transactions.
– Floral: wrap floral arrangements, cut flowers, maintain floral display.
– Merchandise: organize retail, explain products to visitors, restock, answer questions.
– Passionately share the farm’s story, farm rules and practices, botanical information, product knowledge and farm goals to support local, environmentally friendly products and practices.
– Assist with evening events, set-up and take-down..
– Assist in traffic control and field monitoring.
– Basic cleaning maintenance of outdoor washroom facilities.
– Maintain the farm property and facilities in a clean and orderly manner.
– Manual labour: weeding and using farm tools to maintain floral gardens.
– Assist in other farm related tasks when needed with professionalism and a positive attitude!

Requirements
– The ideal candidate is completing or has graduated from post-secondary education.
Depending on your skills, education is not our first consideration. We will consider applicants
of all education levels.
– Allergies: applicants must not be allergic to pollen.
– Customer Service experience is mandatory.
– Public speaking, acting, or tour guide experience is a valuable asset.
– Be able to work both independently and in a team environment with little supervision.
– Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions – majority of the time it will be hot, humid outdoor working conditions.
– Strong organizational skills.
– Strong ability to remain calm and flexible under stressful situations.
– Ability to switch tasks or assist in other areas of the farm when prompted by other team members, supervisors or managers or when you see the need – taking initiative is key!
– Strong oral and written communication skills.
– Agricultural experience OR an understanding of nature, plants, and being outdoors.
– Driving experience is not a requirement but an additional asset.

The Fine Print
– Hours expectation: ranging from 20 to 25 hours per week, including weekends. You will be
expected to work weekends and 2 days during the long weekend. Any other weekends
off other than the long weekend must be approved 10 days prior.
– Applicants must be available from mid/late July until the September long weekend
– Salary: $17/hour or Student Wage (under 18): $16/hour *Higher salaries based on experience.
