Job title: Lead Installer 
Department: Road Crew 
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent (after probation)

Compensation Range: $28.00 to $42.00 per hour

Hours per Week: 43 hours plus overtime
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday 7:00 am to 12:00 pm- may vary

Job summary:
Reporting to the Executive Manager, the lead installer travels to customer sites and carries out the complete installation process of elevator cab interiors and components, surveys job sites, troubleshoots and completes repairs and maintenance to elevator interiors and components and ensures necessary on-site documentation is completed. The lead installer supervises an Installation Helper ensuring that safe work practices are always followed, and that applicable Health and Safety legislation is followed. On occasion, general cab assembly duties may be assigned.

Job specifications:

Education/experience
– Current EDM-D license
– Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a licensed EDM
– Valid G-Licence with a clean driver’s abstract – Must be bondable
– Advanced knowledge of hand and power tools and general manufacturing processes
– Proven ability to take and record accurate and precise measurements
– Experience in woodworking and/or metalworking is considered a strong asset
– Experience reading and interpreting technical CAD drawings

Complexity/analysis
– Experienced position
– Strong ability to identify issues while on site and resolve efficiently
– Develops creative resolutions to problems while following all applicable codes and legislation
– Ensures measurements are accurate
– Reads and follows elevator CAD drawings
– Always follows safe work practices

Direction received
– Frequent contact with Project Manager and Project Coordinator who assign work schedules and communicates any relevant information to the Project Coordinator
– Executive Manager may also assign work
– Uses provided cab drawings to ensure installation meets client-approved design

Responsibilities/Accountability
– Adheres to safe vehicle operating practices and all traffic laws, work practices and procedures as well as all other applicable health and safety laws and regulations
– Ensures accuracy of components installed to avoid additional production costs and unnecessary additional time on site
– Ensures measurements are accurate to avoid waste of material and additional production costs
– Uses strong time management skills to ensure that jobs are completed on time and that the schedule remains on track
– Ensures that site sign-off is obtained after each job to expedite invoicing and payment process

Inside/outside relationships
– Communicates consistently with Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Production Manager to provide daily updates on job progress and any issues that may arise
– Communicates regularly with Executive Manager, Director of Engineering, Purchasing Manager, and Sales
– Interacts with customers, other trades, and the public on site on a daily basis; excellent customer service and adherence to company Code of Conduct is necessary to ensure positive representation of company while on site

Instruction/Coordination
– Provides on-the-job instruction and training to the Installation Helper
– Ensures Installation Helper follows all safe work procedures and practices
– Communicates with other contractors to coordinate work on projects as needed

Position Conditions
– Drives company vehicle to and from site
– Loads and unloads material to be brought to site and back to shop
– Lifts and transports material and tools to workspace
– Consistent lifting and manual material handling required
– Works in residential & commercial buildings as well as construction sites
– Works in dusty/noisy environments
– Works with chemicals required for installation including but not limited to adhesives, cleaners, and thinners
– Some evening and weekend work may be required
– Some out-of-town/overnight work may be required
– Background checks may be required for site-specific security clearance

Supervisory
– Provides direction and instruction to Installation Helper and ensures Helper always follows safe work practices
