Job Description:

As Equipment Technician, you are responsible for numerous tasks such as setting up mowers, sharpening mowers, preventative maintenance and repair of various turf and non turf equipment, both in the shop area as well as in the field.

You are trained to perform a variety of tasks and are responsible for training the turf staff to perform the necessary tasks related to maintaining course equipment. Tasks involved include checking engine oil, hydraulic oil, fuel as well as proper washing/air blowing techniques of equipment. You will be responsible for making some executive decisions on the spot; when the superintendent is unavailable, to approve or apply a corrective course of action regarding technique, safety, job priority or application to various equipment on the golf course.

Individual and inventive thinking is a requirement. You will provide excellent customer service to golfers to recognize and respond to their needs, expectations and concerns. You will be responsible for identifying/diagnosing/troubleshooting any mechanical/electrical/hydraulic problem related to equipment/irrigation system/golf cart etc and keep a documented daily log of all service work performed.

Duties:

  • Perform routine maintenance according to manufactures specification
  • Perform backlapping/grinding to maintain quality cutting units
  • Tear down and rebuild of cutting units as required
  • Troubleshoot/diagnose any mechanical/electrical/hydraulic problem with equipment
  • Ensure all safety features are in proper working condition.
  • Ensure all specialty equipment is in proper working order prior to be required.
  • Fabrication of tools that may be beneficial to the operation of the facility
  • Welding as required
  • Prepare parts list to be ordered.
  • Maintain a parts/fluids inventory of common replaceable items.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform weekly fuel tank inspections as well as documentation in log book.
  • Communicate with other course departments as required.
  • Maintain a detailed log of all repairs (breakdown/routine) on a daily basis.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
