Job title: Cabinet Maker
Department: Warehouse Shop
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent (after probation)
Compensation Range: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
Hours per Week: 43 hours plus overtime
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday 7:00 am to 12:00 pm
Job summary:
The role of a cabinet maker is a full-time position where the successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Foreman and team lead assisting in the manufacturing of elevator interior components. Key responsibilities consist of reading production sheets and cutting wood and other materials to size using table saws and other hand tools as well as assembling elevator interior panels. On occasion, other general labour or cab assembly duties may be assigned depending on company needs.
Job specifications:
Education/experience
– Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a woodworker
– Knowledge of thickness planer, wood shaper, and table saw
– Intermediate knowledge of hand and power tools and general manufacturing processes
– Able to read a measuring tape and convert measurements
– Familiarity with CAD Drawings and working with different types of wood
Complexity/analysis
– Reads and follows CAD drawings
– Organizational skills are an asset
– Always follows safe work practices
Direction received
– Foreman and team lead are the main points of contact for prioritizing work, and ensuring all deadlines are met
– May also receive direction from Executive Manager and Purchasing Manager
Responsibilities/Accountability
– Reading production sheets and cutting wood and other materials to size using table saws
– Self-starter, taking initiative
– Must always adhere to safe work practices and procedures as well as all other applicable health and safety laws and regulations
Inside/outside relationships
– Frequent contact with Foreman, team lead, and other warehouse employees
Position conditions
– Standing and walking, occasional medium to heavy lifting and bending.
– Some evening and weekend work may be required
– Works in dusty/noisy environments at times
– Work area can be hot and humid during summer season, cold during winter
– Must wear appropriate PPE
– Heavy lifting and manual material handling required
