Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a Moniteur / Monitrice include but are not limited to:

Leading activities for campers including inquiry and discussion in French

Creating a fun, enjoyable, inclusive and safe atmosphere for campers

Modelling appropriate behaviour and positive interactions, work with senior staff at the camp to provide corrective actions to camper behaviour issues, conflicts 

Engaging with each camper as they work through activities

Ensuring that all campers under your care are treated equally, consistently, and fairly

Providing consistent and specific direction in the supervision of campers

Demonstrating a positive attitude, thoughtfulness, and good decision-making

Being self-confident and able to accept and adopt constructive feedback

Following all daily campsite cleaning procedures

Adhere to all Camp Tournesol health and safety and emergency protocols and Camp Tournesol policy

Ensure general cleanliness and rules of the facility is adhered to per the facility guidelines

Carrying out reasonable duty requests from the Chef d’Équipe, Animateur Senior or members of the Management Team

Attending the mandatory training period (June 25 & 26, 2025)

Note: Candidates applying for any position with Camp Tournesol Espoir Inc. must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 22, 2024.

Required skills:

Successful Candidates Should Possess:
Must be fully proficient in English and French

Working towards a high school diploma or enrolled at a post-secondary institution 

1 year experience working with children  

Knowledge and understanding of French education curriculum and related topics  

Inspirational and creative thinking skills 

Customer service-oriented mindset

Teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiative

Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to change

The ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutions 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

Must be able to commute to workplace location

Applicants who are Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents will be prioritized
