The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Durham is seeking a creative, caring and energetic teacher for our Sunday morning Religious Exploration (R.E.) program. This is a part-time position, approximately 4 hours per week from September through June.
Responsibilities
The Teacher will prepare and lead a Sunday morning R.E. program for a variety of ages using a prepared curriculum. Our R.E. program is offered in the style of “one-room” schoolhouse, with all ages from grades K to 8 learning together. Duties will include: choosing activities from existing lesson plans, setting up the lesson, teaching and classroom management, clean up, record keeping (attendance, forms, etc) and communicating with parents. Most programming happens on Sundays between 10:15 am and 12:15 pm, with occasional special events. The Teacher is welcome to, but not required, to attend services at UUCD. This position reports to the Religious Exploration Committee. The R.E. Teacher is supported by one assistant who is responsible for toddler care, as well as volunteers and youth advisors.

● This position is ideally suited to someone in post-secondary studies such as teaching, E.C.E., child & youth worker or a retiree in this field.
