Job Description:

North Durham United FC is inviting applications for program leadership positions to assist with the facilitation of our youth recreational soccer programs for players ages 4 – 15 yrs. This position is conditional on funding and is open to applicants between 17 and 30 years of age.

This 14-week seasonal position offers 30 hours per week and is well-suited for a post-secondary student seeking a career in sports, recreation, education, and/or youth programming. Assisting with administrative and on-field aspects of the soccer programs, this position will require evening hours for 4 nights per week and two weekend tournament days of player coaching, in addition to weekday hours for administrative and program preparation assignments. Working as part of a team, under the guidance of the soccer club’s administrator and a lead coach, this role provides great experience in the sports industry.

Term of Work: May 23 – Aug. 25, 2023; 14-week seasonal position; 30 hours/week; daytime and evening hours, and occasional weekend shifts are required; wage of $17/hour. Start and end dates may be adjusted per position. Up to ten positions available for programs operating in Uxbridge and Port Perry, ON.

Duties: Program Supervisor will assume an integral leadership role in the delivery of the North Durham United FC summer recreational youth soccer program for the U4 through U15 age divisions. Tasks will be assigned in three areas: coaching & program delivery, field supervision & maintenance, and administration. Duties include:

• implementation of the 4-evening weekly youth program in collaboration with, and under the supervision of, a Club lead coach, using the provided curriculum
• motivate and guide player skill and sportsmanship development
• assist with general field maintenance, which may include field lining and equipment set up
• field supervision and monitoring public for program compliance
• administrative work to compile statistics, provide documentation, and complete assessments related to membership, volunteers/coaches, player development and club communications

Responsibilities:
On-field:
• organizing and leading the soccer program within each of the listed age divisions, including coaching and operation of the Timbit Active Start program (U4-U6)
• planning, coordinating, and facilitating weekly team practices as per the club curriculum (provided)
• coaching/supervision of players before, during & after games, with the assistance of volunteers

• organization, communication and volunteer management/guidance for parent volunteers and parent participants
• organization of equipment and drills; implementation of weekly program plans
• field marshal duties, as required
• monitoring of training risk assessment
• assist with the organization and operation of two Festivals (tournaments)

Under the direction of the field maintenance team, this position may also assist with field lining, general maintenance of field conditions, and set up and maintenance of field equipment to ensure proper delivery and safety of the soccer program.

Administrative responsibilities may include coordination of the player skills ratings system; regular assessment of player development needs; update of coaching materials and curriculum;
tournament coordination; organizing volunteer training and meetings; office work and club communications.

• demonstrated experience and interest in working with youth and the public
• excellent administrative, coordination, and communication skills
• own transportation to facilities in Uxbridge and Port Perry is required
• must be a Canadian citizen, between the ages of 17-30 and eligible to work in Ontario
