Job Description:

The Student Maintenance worker will assist in the general maintenance and beautification of various Corporation properties. This will include lawn and grounds maintenance (grass cutting, gardening, yard clean-up), painting (door, railings, fencing), janitorial tasks (window washing) and minor general repairs. MON-FRI – 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, $16.00 PER HOUR.
2 positions for the Bowmanville area with travel throughout our properties
2 positions for the Brock area with travel throughout our properties
2 positions for the Whitby area with travel throughout our properties

QUALIFICATIONS:
. be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
. be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
. have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment;
. be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and
. ability to arrange own transportation to and from site locations

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
. Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, team player
. Able to walk on uneven grounds, bend, twist, lift up to 20 pounds, operate small tools and some motorized machinery, able to work outdoors

EDUCATION:
Secondary School.

Additional information:

This position will be supervised and organized by a Property Manager. Work plans and locations will be assigned daily; reliable transportation to work sites will be required. On the job site, Superintendents will oversee the daily work and provide the needed instruction and direction for that day's work plan. This position will be mentored by staff in the Building and Capital Asset Team. Students will participate in Mandatory Health & Safety Orientation prior to commencing any work.
