Gilmer’s Home Hardware Building Centre is a family oriented and privately owned home improvement and hardware store and we are growing!

We are currently seeking a full-time Power Equipment Sales Associate.

This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service by providing information to customers looking to purchase the correct unit for their needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Become a subject matter expert on power equipment product lines to assist customers purchase the correct unit for their needs.
  • Complete sales paperwork with a high attention to detail.
  • Remain up to date with all manufacturer updates, product launches, sales and financing training.
  • Develop and increase sales and suggest new marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Generate customer referrals.
  • Ensure inventory is neat and orderly.
  • Assist customers in handling of large and heavy items.
  • Liaison with mechanic and customer to ensure parts are ordered and maintained.
  • Liaison with mechanic to ensure customer repairs are managed to completion in a timely manner.
  • Liaison with Yard Manager to schedule delivery and or pick up from customers homes.
  • Perform day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Attend store meetings, training sessions as required.
  • Work on additional duties, special projects and assignments as needed.

Required skills:

-Retail experience or a background knowledge of the following product categories is an asset but, training is provided: Lawn Mowers, Trimmers, Chainsaws other outdoor power equipment.
-Knowledge of the following brands is an asset: Stihl, Honda, Toro, MTD and Cub Cadet.
-Small engine mechanics experience preferred, must have mechanical knowledge and understanding at a minimum.
-Strong computer proficiency.
-A passion for sales and customer satisfaction is a must.
-Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
-Ability to work a flexible schedule.
