Job Description:
Supervise an 8 Week Summer Program for children and youth between the ages of 4 to 16 with diverse needs as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Funding.
• Be knowledgeable of and adheres to all camp policies, rules, and guidelines;
• Establish operating budget for the camp and control expenditures;
• Oversee the development of the camp program and approve all camp activities;
• Train, support, discipline, & supervise camp staff;
• Conduct Orientation and Risk Management training;
• Organize and coordinates the campers’ selection process;
• Produce forms, letters and pertinent documents needed for the implementation of the camp;
• Handle questions, problems and concerns of parents/guardians before the start of camp and support the Staff to answer these issues during the camp;
• Ensure weekly and daily program schedules are maintained;
• Ensure staff and participants ratios are maintained and staff are fulfilling their job responsibilities;
• Liaise with participants, parents/guardians on a daily basis and/or as needed;
Facilitate and co-facilitate programming in partnership with Recreation and Child and Youth Workers;
• Ensure safety on the site while carrying out planned activities;
• Communicate any issues of concerns to the Camp Administrator;
• Maintain program records, equipment, supplies and general upkeep of the facility;
• Be familiar with WHMIS regulations and observe all Health and Safety policies and procedures of the Town of Ajax;
• Prepare end of summer report; And,
• any other duties assigned by the Camp Administrator.

• Must be at least 25 years of age and have experience in planning major events
• Ability to work collaboratively with others
• Possesses good leadership abilities, management and organizational skills
• Patient, enthusiastic, self-controlled and dependable
• Experience Supervising staff
• Experience and knowledge working with children and youth with diverse needs
• Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance.
