Title:Operations Manager – Steel Fabrications

Duties:

We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Manager in our Steel Fabrication plant located at 107 Albert St., Sunderland, Ontario. Working alongside our Quality Manager, the Operations Manager oversees all facets of our manufacturing process and personnel. The Operations Manager will:

– Evaluate current quality control standards, implement new reporting procedures and oversee changes to production systems;
– Ensure that machinery, vehicles, and warehouse equipment is in good working order through maintenance scheduling;
– Audit current machinery and warehouse equipment to make recommendations for any improvements;
– Have day to day supervision and oversight of production employees which will include evaluating employee work practices and training so as to implement more efficient, economical and ergonomic practices;
– Establish a production budget and manage it through each fiscal period;
– Plan and maintain an inventory of raw materials to meet production requirements;
– Implement a logistics plan to improve receiving and shipping;
– Organize incoming inventory, monitor supplier performance and improve delivery logistics;
– Ensure all internal and external customer quality requirements are met; and
– Develop, promote and advocate for logistical operations policies and procedures that improve production and overall company performance.

Required skills:

Operations Experience

As a leader on our production floor you:

- Have progressive experience in quality assurance/control;
- Are proficient in computer user with at minimum intermediate level MS Office skills in Excel and Word;
- Are organized, dedicated, and extremely detail-oriented;
- Are able to demonstrate competent hands-on problem-solving skills; and
- Thrive in a fast paced environment and under pressure.

Managerial Experience

As a key member of our managerial team you:

- Have extensive supervisory experience with equipment maintenance, monitoring and delivery logistics;
- Have 5-10 years of experience managing personnel, including performance and time management;
- Have a track record that demonstrates that health and safety is a top priority. Experience with health and safety requirements or have the flexibility to be trained on specific regional regulations.
- Are comfortable on the plant floor and in an office environment;
- Are able to lead in the exchange of ideas at all levels - reports, peers and other management; and
- Have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Other:
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- The physical requirements of this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds and the ability to bend, crawl or climb if necessary, for inspection.

Education:
Formal training in a related field such as operations or logistics management is required.

Language/ Communication:
- Excellent English communication skills (both written and oral);
- Proven ability to write technical directives and reports;
- Capable of effectively interacting with all levels of personnel from employees to shareholders.
- Personable and able to respond to customers and suppliers effectively.
