Who We Are:
The Uxbridge Hospital Auxiliary is an organization consisting of volunteers whose mandate is to fundraise for and to provide volunteer services at the Uxbridge Hospital, Oak Valley Health. Since its inception, the Uxbridge Hospital Auxiliary has donated over $4,000,000 to the Uxbridge Hospital via the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation. Chances Are, our thrift store, has provided a significant amount of these funds.

What we are looking for:
Reporting to the President of the Uxbridge Hospital Auxiliary, the successful candidate will manage and oversee the operations of a Thrift Store owned by the Uxbridge Hospital Auxiliary that generates between $200,000 and $300,000 per annum. All proceeds generated from the store are directed to the Uxbridge Hospital via the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation. The Manager will oversee the well-being and supervise a team of volunteer staff consisting of Sorters, Display Personnel, Cashiers and Receivers. You will also provide leadership to volunteer staff and promote effective communication on all levels. The Manager reports (operational concerns and financial updates) and works in cooperation with the Uxbridge Auxiliary Board of Directors as required. In addition, in cooperation with the Uxbridge Auxiliary Communication Volunteer, you will assist in the promotion of the Chances Are store and its mission in the Uxbridge Community to ensure ongoing viability.

What you bring to the role:
• Secondary School education
• Previous supervisory experience working with volunteers is required
• Previous experience managing in a retail setting and/or Thrift Store setting
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act compliance
• Effective people management, coaching, conflict management and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication skills, computer and record-keeping skills
• Understanding of budget management, controls petty cash expenditures, not for profit compliance and the tracking of financial performance of the store, working in partnership with the Auxiliary Treasurer and bookkeeper
• Comfortable working with a team of volunteer staff including providing on the job orientation and training
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to address customer concerns that may arise
• Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks responsibilities to appropriate volunteers
• Work in partnership with the Auxiliary Director of Volunteers and store volunteer scheduler to ensure adequate staffing
• Experience drafting & implementing staff job descriptions, written store policies and procedures for store operations (opening and closing the store, accepting and pricing donations) and security procedures for staff and volunteers (handling of cash, keys, access codes) and any other relevant procedures as needed
• Create reports (i.e. quarter volunteer hours, written reports) to Board of Directors
• Attending Uxbridge Auxiliary meetings as required
• Ensure all store maintenance is accomplished, cleaned and supplies ordered
• Schedule regular communication/staff meetings with store Department Coordinator and volunteers
• Ensure volunteer staff adhere to the Hospital Auxiliary Code of Conduct
• Maintain confidentiality in all personnel matters

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with flexibility to work occasional weekend hours as required.

Full Time Temporary (approximately 1 year) with possibility for extension
Compensation: $25.75 an hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
