Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Status:  Full-Time Permanent

Reports to: CEO

Wage: $71 604.00 annually

Position Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the building maintenance. This includes overseeing the maintenance team.  The supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating maintenance activities and ensuring that all equipment, machinery, systems and structures are functioning as expected.  The incumbent will organize work schedules and implement maintenance programs to align with Health and Safety legislation and company policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Regularly inspect property for needed improvements and upkeep.
  • Oversee the Preventative Maintenance program for in-office equipment including, but not limited to fridges, autoclaves, and some medical equipment.
  • Oversee the Preventative Maintenance program for building equipment including, but not limited to, fire suppression system, boiler, HVAC units, BAS, water softener, and pumps.
  • Prioritize, schedule and report on repairs and maintenance.  Prepare and maintain appropriate logs for equipment and grounds maintenance.
  • Track all material and expenses.
  • Responsible for snow removal contract and the seasonal grooming of building exterior.
  • Responsible for the building Fire Plan, yearly fire drills and internal testing.
  • Oversee the paid parking system.
  • Space planning and relocation.
  • Waste management.
  • Coordinate and supervise approved outside contractors as needed.
  • Support the health and safety of the building including managing the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program.
  • Be a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee team and be certified as a Health and Safety Representative.
  • Manage and participate in after hours on-call rotation.
  • Mentors, supervises and trains Junior Maintenance Technicians.
  • Inform CEO of any defects or unscheduled jobs required.
  • Special projects

Qualifications and Relevant Experience:

  • Related post-secondary experience
  • 3+ years trades experience, HVAC preferred
  • Proven experience in directing and developing staff; leadership skills and excellent coaching, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to rank and prioritize multiple projects at once
  • A familiarity with tools of the trade
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products
  • Experience responding to accidents and complaints from the public
  • Knowledge of OHSA, PIDAC/IPAC and related legislation
  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others
  • Experience working in healthcare an asset
