Hiawatha is a vibrant First Nation community located on the beautiful north shore of Rice Lake. We are located approximately 20 minutes from Peterborough, ON and 45 minutes from Cobourg, ON. There are approximately 638 registered citizens with approximately 235 residing in Hiawatha. In the summer months our population increases significantly. Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Housing Coordinator, the Housing Youth Intern will provide administrative support to the Housing Program at Hiawatha First Nation. The term position will run from September 3, 2019 until March 27, 2020, with the possibility of extension dependent upon funding.

This position will report to the Housing Coordinator.

Summary of Main Responsibilities:
Promote the vision, mission and values of Hiawatha First Nation
Provide clerical and administrative supports as required for the efficient operations of the Housing Program initiatives.
Assist with transcribing, typing and filing correspondence, briefing notes/updates and reports.
Provide factual information when responding to telephone, staff, and personal inquiries or direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
Develop and utilize spreadsheets, databases and other computer applications.
Collect key information for data entry purposes.
Develop reports and briefing papers.
Represent Hiawatha First Nation at meetings and site visits, when required.
Other duties as assigned.

Required skills:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
Age 15-29 (As per CMHC funding requirements)
Experience in administrative office environment preferred.
Proficiency in various computer programs/applications – Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Database software.
Other administrative skills acquired through education and life work experiences.
Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Able to provide a clear CPIC

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, email and internet)
Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
