A day in the role of a Housekeeping Associate at Cobourg Retirement Residence.

The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for housekeeping services of the residents’ personal suites and the community’s amenity space according to the community’s policies and aligned with but not limited to, the Retirement Homes Act.
As a Housekeeping Associate, you will report directly to the Environmental Services Manager. Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends, as well as a variety of shifts. Schedules will be provided.

This position is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Performs various tasks related to housekeeping services as per the job routines. They include but are not limited to surface cleaning and disinfecting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing, polishing and garbage/recycling waste management,
  • This may include laundry services,
  • Completes mandatory training as scheduled,
  • Maintains safe Infection Control and Health and Safety Practices,
  • Reports any safety or risk concerns immediately to the manager or in-charge associate,
  • Maintains effective communication with Residents, families and fellow associates,
  • Promotes the Vision, Mission and Values of Lifetimes Living Inc. as well as the Residents’ Bill of Rights,
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required skills:

-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
-Current CPR & First Aid Certificate preferred,
-Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,
-Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
-Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, and must be able to provide three supervisory references.
-Cobourg Retirement Residence recognizes the importance of immunization to protect our residents, staff and others from COVID-19. Subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, it will be a condition of employment that all new hires have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada 14 days before the start date.
