This position is mobile, serving the areas of Peterborough to Stouffville primarily but on occasion working outside said area as our contracts require. We have a variety of work and many pieces of equipment requiring various levels of skill and expertise, we view experience in multiple areas of heavy equipment as an asset.
Applicant Requirements
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction/ earthworks
- Possess physical ability to operate heavy and power-driven equipment
- Clean driver’s license abstract and own transportation
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Confidence in handling emergency situations, and managing production timelines
Position Responsibilities
- Work alongside management to efficiently complete work
- Support successful completion of construction and engineering work
- Proficient knowledge of all heavy equipment such as: bulldozers, excavators, scrapers, rollers, backhoes, rock trucks, front-end loaders, and other related equipment and attachments
- Operate equipment confidently and safely prevent accidents and/or damage of property
- Conduct daily vehicle/equipment inspections
- Perform periodical safety, maintenance or servicing checks of equipment
- Strong understanding of MOL regulations
- Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, work site or traffic law
- Ability to read and understand site drawings and specifications an asset
- Knowledge of materials and tools utilized in heavy civil construction
- Experience with 3D grading systems an asset
Working Condition
Our heavy equipment operators can work irregular or odd hours in outdoor work sites during the peak of construction season. Work hours depend on weather conditions and may include some weekend hours.
Our business sector is typically seasonal; however, Todd Brothers tries to provide employment year-round to all employees by providing snow removal services in the winter, emergency services and other heavy construction projects that can occur during winter months
