Job Description:

A family operated small-scale, sustainable farm using a model of ecological, poly culture farming in Port Perry, Ontario. All plants are started from seed on-site, which are then grown in a field or high-tech greenhouse environment. Once harvested, the mixed vegetables are cleaned, inspected, sorted and packaged by hand. The prepared produce is distributed through our on-site store and local restaurants. We also provide daily husbandry to our flock laying hens and broiler chickens. We are dedicated to producing
exceptionally delicious organic foods, providing meaningful employment, and teaching employees about small-scale sustainable farming.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Follow procedures for washing, sorting, grading, packaging and labeling produce
• Maintain a safe and clean workspace
• Continuously ensure eye-appealing store displays (including signage, restocking and removing defective products)
• Interact with store clients in a professional and efficient manner in order to build customer rapport and satisfaction by effectively answering questions and accurately checking out their purchase using cash register and point-of-sale device
• Washing and packaging eggs

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities (as needed):
• Assist in harvesting produce, transplanting seedlings, greenhouse work (e.g. seeding, potting up seedlings, filling trays with potting mix) and weeding crops
• Prune and train greenhouse crops

Hours: 40 hours/week; daytime hours, Monday – Friday

Compensation: $15.75/hour

Availability: between end of April and the end of August (flexible), with possibility of job
extension through the fall months
