Job Description:
Key Duties
- Oversee the Dining Services Dept in the absence of the Food Service Manager when required (supervising staff, ordering, diet and menu changes, temperature checks, etc)
- Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all food for residents, guests and employees
- Review menus before preparing meals and prepares and serves them properly and attractively
- Ensures, practices and teaches use of proper food handling techniques
- Prepares and serves food for therapeutic diets according to planned menus
Wage: $19.67/hr

Field of Work: Restaurant/Food Services
Required skills:
Cook certification, chef's papers or Cook 1 designation preferred
Previous experience in long term care setting, preferably a retirement home or equivalent knowledge
Empathy for and understanding of, the needs of the elderly and/or mentally/physically disabled
Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents and their families with a high degree of patience and tolerance
Knowledgeable of the Ontario Food Premises Regulations
ability to demonstrate a creative flair for menu planning, food preparation and presentation
Experience in quantity food preparation
Ability to follow and adjust recipes to meet the needs of the facility
