Job Description:

Eligibility:
This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. To be eligible, youth must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
The position will assist in delivering Community Development and Health Promotion (CD-HP) programming and reporting including:
• Coordinating and facilitating wellness programs and activities that support the needs and interests of the community (both in-person and virtual)
• Assisting with marketing and promotion of programs, updating program calendars and maintaining program content for the website and social media
• Taking photos of wellness programs and participants in action for program catalogue
• Calling/emailing participants and keeping them informed of changes and cancellations
• Creating education opportunities within the community related to health promotion, i.e., setting up speakers and hosting 1-day events (currently all through the Zoom platform)
• Supporting administration staff as necessary
• Working collaboratively with Brock CHC staff and community partners
• This role may include client support services such as friendly visiting and telephone check in calls to high risk clients

Key Qualifications/Attributes:
The successful candidate:
• Has an interest in healthcare, health promotion and/or recreation
• Is able to work well independently or as part of a team
• Enjoys interacting with people of all ages with a focus on seniors and youth
• Has access to reliable transportation and a valid G drivers licence
• Is able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate daytime and evening programming
• Is proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Has an understanding of measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission
• Familiarity with “Zoom” video conferencing would be considered an asset
• Familiarity with the Community Health Centre Model of Care would be considered an asset
