Job Description:
Oversee the educational, craft, STEM Program, etc., aspect of an 8 week Summer camp for children and youth 4-16 years.
• Take the lead for the facilitation of the non-recreation aspects of the camp, including, but not limited to: familiarizing self with the programming being facilitated; ensure materials required are available; requisition of funds from the Administrative Assistant as required to effectively facilitate programming; and staff are aware of their responsibilities during these events;
• Ensure weekly and daily program plans are being delivered;
• Supervise and co-facilitate all other daily activities, programming, and excursions;
• Liaise with parents/guardians, as needed, in the absence of the Program Supervisor;
• Ensure safety on the site while carrying out planned activities;
• Maintain program equipment, supplies and general upkeep of the facility;
• Inform Program Supervisor of any issues and/or concerns in the facilitation of the Program;
• Complete accident/incident reports, if required;
• Be familiar with WHMIS regulations and observe all Health and Safety policies and procedures of the Town of Ajax;
• Support the Program Supervisor in the preparation of the end of summer report; And,
• any other duties assigned by the Program Supervisor.

Required skills:
• Experience working with children and youth
• Be between the ages of 16-30 years at the start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment with diverse communities
• Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance
