QM is currently seeking a Draftsperson to join our team for the delivery of a major project in downtown Toronto. This is a long-term position with opportunities to leverage technical ability and innovation across our remaining project portfolio in Canada.


You will work closely with the Survey Manager and Project Manager to complete design drawings and construction drawings, quantity calculations and as-built drawings for the project using Civil 3D and Auto CAD.


• Create CAD drawings from concept to final design for construction using site measurement
• Provide As Built Drawings for project
• Collaborate with Survey Manager and project team to ensure accuracy of drawings
• Liaise with project and field staff to problem solve
• Assist in field surveys
• Prepare & design alignment, profiles, sections, corridors using AutoCAD Civil3D
• Process field data and computer-generated survey information
• Prepare pre-engineering, topographic plans
• Sketch and prepare construction drawing submittals for approval
• Produce detailed, final drawings and specifications for project civil construction work
• Perform site visits to gather measurements
• Plan and coordinate activities and ensure that work is completed accurately, in a timely manner
• Take part in meetings to collect information (Scope of Work) for implementation
• Review with Survey Manager and Site Supervisor highlighted scope of work and list all materials. Clarify all information needed to
start CAD Drawings and fill in an Information Sheet with all information
• Review drawings with Survey Manager
• Attend to drawings when returned by Survey Manager
• Keep open communication with Survey manager, Project Managers, Site Supervisors and Site Forman


• Majority of time will be spent on job sites
• Travel will be required
• Use of specialized PPE, including half or full-faced respirator, may be required (training provided)
• Work is outdoors and exposed to weather (dress appropriately)
• Hours can be long, between 10 – 12 hours per day based on project and client requirements

Required skills:


Education and Occupational Certification:

• Post-secondary education in Civil Technology diploma
• Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) or Architectural Design Certification an asset
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Trimble Business Centre
• Knowledge of VisionLink 3D Productivity Manager is an asset
• Knowledge of field surveying including, topographical surveys and construction layouts predominantly for civil construction
• Experience with highway, rail and other civil structures and Utilities considered an asset
• Ability to read and draft Survey, Boundary and ROW plans considered an asset
• Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel)
• Good understanding of how to read civil engineering drawings and site plans
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools, and Menu’s


• 1+ year experience in Manual drafting and CAD Drafting
• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints
• BIM and Revit experience considered an asset
